Experience

For the past two years, I’ve worked as a backend Java engineer at Electrum Payments - a fintech company specialising in Payments and Digital Goods and Services. In my role, I worked on various projects integrating new clients into our payments service, some of which have an average volume of over 3 million transactions per day. These projects involved developing REST APIs for the clients to integrate with, which were deployed on various cloud infrastructures, such as AWS EC2, AWS Lambdas and Kubernetes clusters....

During my third year I did a one month internship at Electrum Payments. I worked on a proof of concept for a database solution using AWS Redis cache service. I gained valuable experience during this time. I was then granted a bursary for my honors year, after my performance was evaluated during this internship.

Interned at Invictus Capital for 4 weeks. I worked as a front end web developer and was required to learn and use the frameworks and technologies the company uses (such as React.js) while creating a web app containing information about the top 20 Crypto currencies.

WeCode24 is an initiative, which aims to educate high school learners in under-resourced schools about computer programming. I spent six months volunteering as a facilitator for WeCode24. In this time, I was involved with helping students to learn how to program in python by teaching them how to build basic animations and games.
